<p>Die Umfahrungsstrasse Sissach wurde im Jahr 2006 in Betrieb genommen.</p><p>Kernstück der Umfahrung ist der 2'294 Meter lange Tunnel Chienberg. Dieser setzt sich aus zwei im Tagbau erstellten Abschnitten sowie einem in Deckelbauweise und einem bergmännisch erstellten Tunnelabschnitt zusammen.</p><p>Aufgrund des aktuellen baulichen Zustands soll der Tunnel Chienberg nach rund 25 Jahren Betriebsdauer einer umfangreichen Instandsetzung unterzogen werden.
