Original Tender Description

The objective of this procurement is to appoint a delivery partner who will work with us over the next two years to develop, produce and grow our podcast, On the Record at The National Archives. We are seeking high quality production support that will help expand the podcast's reach, strengthen its promotional impact, and ensure alignment with our wider organisational strategy. The successful supplier will be an engaging storyteller with substantial experience of working collaboratively with museums and heritage organisations to interpret collections for non-specialist audiences, and with specific experience of podcast development and delivery. You will work with us to creatively shape the production of new podcasts, script informative narration, and support recording to make interviews engaging. You will edit the podcast and ultimately deliver audio files and full transcripts of high-quality episodes ready for general release. We produce the podcast in a conversational, engaging style that remains professional and balanced. We want to continue developing this approach, exploring formats and techniques that strengthen what is already working well for our audiences. The successful supplier will be sensitive to our position as a government department and our roles as civil servants, working with us to create sign-off processes, whilst developing thought-provoking and insightful approaches to storytelling using our experts and unique collection. The use of external guests and interviewees is welcomed however please note that we have set fees for these contributions. The successful supplier will work closely on an ongoing basis with The National Archives' digital engagement team as well as series-specific project teams; collaborating to deliver sustainable content which is both flexible and dynamic. The proposed contract period is 2 years (24 months). Maximum expenditure over the course of the contract period is £135,000 (inc. VAT). Please note that this is not a guaranteed level of expenditure. This is a call off contract where services will be commissioned on an 'as needed' basis. As such, total expenditure could be less than the £135,000 quoted.

Tender Quality Score

This tender for podcast content and production services is generally well-structured, with clear objectives and requirements. However, it lacks explicit evaluation criteria and details on the submission process, impacting practicality and legal compliance.

Score Breakdown

Legal Compliance75/100

The tender adheres to basic legal requirements with a clear CPV code and open competition procedure. However, the absence of explicit evaluation criteria and a missing reveal date for documents could pose challenges for legal compliance and transparency. The deadline, while active, is relatively short for a below-threshold procurement, which could be a minor concern.

Missing reveal date for documents
No evaluation criteria specified
Clarity80/100

The description of services is clear and detailed, outlining the expected collaboration, content style, and deliverables. The AI-extracted requirements further break down the technical and eligibility criteria effectively, providing a good understanding of what is sought.

Completeness70/100

Most essential information is present, including title, reference, organization, estimated value, contract duration, and start date. However, the lack of available document content and the absence of explicit submission requirements reduce the overall completeness.

No document content available
Submission requirements not explicitly stated
Fairness85/100

The tender exhibits good fairness by disclosing the estimated value and using an open competition procedure. The requirements, while specific to the nature of the service (e.g., experience with heritage organizations), do not appear to be tailored to a single company. The use of e-procurement is implied but not explicitly confirmed.

Practicality65/100

The tender is hampered by the lack of explicit e-submission instructions and the unavailability of document content, making it difficult for potential bidders to prepare their submissions efficiently. While the contract start date and duration are clear, the 'as needed' nature of the call-off contract might require further clarification on how services will be commissioned.

No e-submission specified
No document content available
Data Consistency90/100

Key fields such as title, reference, organization, value, and dates are populated logically. There are no reported disputes or suspensions, indicating good data consistency within the provided information.

Sustainability50/100

The tender does not explicitly mention any green procurement, social aspects, or innovation focus. It is also not indicated as EU funded, limiting its score in this category.
