Original Tender Description

Tavistock Town Council invites tenders from a Principal Contractor with relevant skills in heritage and conservation projects to lead the repair, refurbishment and enhancement of Betsy Grimbal's Tower and Still House buildings. The project includes grant-funded fabric works, public access, lighting and signage enhancements. The estimated budget for the Principal Contractor's fees is between £325,000 to £375,000 plus VAT. The contract will be managed by Le Page Architects and will involve collaboration with Structural Engineers, Archaeologist and Ecologist. The anticipated start date for capital works is the end of June 2026, with a completion date of mid-November 2026. Submissions require a fully priced Schedule of Works, programme proposals, and CDM answers. This contract is part of the Rediscovering Abbey Remains Project, aiming for continuous repair and care of Tavistock Abbey remains, extensive archaeological investigations, research, and creation of AV interpretation.
