Ehitusmaterjalide hanked hõlmavad olulist tarneahelat, mis toetab avaliku sektori infrastruktuuri ja ehitusprojekte kogu Euroopas. CPV jaotuse 44 all klassifitseerituna hõlmab see kategooria konstruktsioonilist terast ja metallkonstruktsioone, torusid ja liitmikke, monteeritavaid ehituskomponente, tellinguid, uksi ja aknaid, katusematerjale, isolatsioonitooteid ning mitmesuguseid ehituses kasutatavaid riistvara- ja kinnitusvahendeid.
EL-i avaliku sektori asutused hangivad ehitusmaterjale teeinfrastruktuuri, avalike hoonete, koolide, haiglate, veepuhastusjaamade ja sotsiaalelamute jaoks. Raamlepinguid kasutatakse sageli usaldusväärsete tarneahelate tagamiseks üldlevinud materjalide jaoks mitmeaastastel perioodidel. Säästva ehituse suundumus on suurendanud nõudlust taaskasutatud ja vähese süsinikusisaldusega ehitusmaterjalide, sertifitseeritud puittoodete ja energiatõhusate isolatsioonisüsteemide järele.
Ehitusmaterjalide hangetele pakkujad peaksid olema valmis vastama rangetele kvaliteedistandarditele, sealhulgas CE-märgistuse nõuetele, EN-tootestandarditele ja keskkonnadeklaratsioonidele.
